Unfortunately, cakes smaller than 6″ (16cm) round and 5″ (13cm) tall won’t be accepted. We want to make sure there’s enough cake for everyone to enjoy.

Yes! The more cakes, the merrier but please email us to let us know so we can be prepared with enough table space

Yes! The pastry king himself, Darren Purchese, will be judging the “Best Cake” based on  look and flavour.  Make sure to bring your best cakes to win an incredible prize (TBC)

Your ticket allows yourself entry + 1 extra person who doesn’t need to bring a cake. Your +1 guest will be able to enter to take photos before the cake cutting event. However, they must wait outside while you go through the cake line. This includes children.  Babies and toddlers are welcome free of charge.

We’ll provide napkins and forks. You’re welcome to bring your own picnic supplies, including additional food and non-alcoholic drinks. There is a cafe nearby, as well as self serve BBQ’s (available on a first come, first serve basis). 

Bicentennial Park is a spacious, water-view venue with plenty of nearby grassed areas, perfect for setting up a picnic blanket and enjoying your cake haul.

Please note: No alcohol is permitted at the event or in the parklands. 

Each cake must come with a written description and allergen list provided by the baker. Please check the labels carefully before choosing your slices. CAKECON is a community-led event, so you’ll need to use your best judgement.

Arrive at 10:00am to check in with your cake. Our team will place your cake on the tables inside the venue. We will open the doors to photograph all the cakes once judging has begun. Cake serving begins right after announcing the Best Cake winner!

Your ticket fee covers the venue hire, prizes that haven’t been gifted, judges fees and travel, boxes, forks, napkins, “best cake” prize, and event organisation.

Maybe! Please send us an email. If there’s enough interest, we’ll open up vendor tables to sell your goodies whether it’s cake decorating tools, personalised aprons, picnic baskets, picnic blankets, charcuterie boards and more.

Yes! Store-bought cakes are welcome just make sure they meet the size requirements and come whole and uncut and you must list all the ingredients and allergens on your card.  Store bought cakes won’t be in the runnning to win “Best Cake”.

Possibly! It depends on what participants bake and bring. Each cake will have an allergen label, so keep an eye out for cakes that meet your needs.

No stress! The provided pizza-sized box is yours to take home. That means you can enjoy CakeCon all over again the next day (or at midnight when no one’s watching)

CAKECON is an outdoor event and will take place rain or shine. Bring a picnic blanket, maybe a raincoat or umbrella because the event will still happen! If weather is extremely bad, we will look into a completely indoor venue

We take pride in running a well-organised cake picnic experience. To ensure the event runs smoothly and fairly for everyone, all cakes must be checked in and our team will place your cakes on the tables for you.  Once all cakes have checked in, then we will open the venue. This allows us to present all cakes at once and keeps the process efficient and enjoyable.

Our team will be ready to receive your cake and place it inside the venue to speed things up. Whilst check-in is happening, we encourage you to enjoy the surrounding park facilities.  There are plenty of walking trails, bike paths, bike hire, BBQ areas, and a nearby children’s playground.

Feel free to bring books or outdoor activities to help pass the time. We’ll also keep everyone updated via our WhatsApp group, where we’ll announce when the venue opens for cake viewing and photos, followed by judging and then cake cutting.

Unfortunately, tickets are non-refundable. However, if you’re unable to attend for any reason, you’re welcome to transfer your ticket to someone else. Simply email us the new attendee’s details and we’ll update the name on the ticket for you.

Please note: In the 3 days leading up to the event, our team will be very busy and may be out of office, so response times may be slower. Ticket transfers are only confirmed once you receive written confirmation from CAKECON.

Believe it or not, this has been one of my most asked questions in DMs, comments, and emails!

“Why CAKECON?” Well… the name “Cake Picnic” was already taken and even trademarked, which meant no website or business name was available for me to use. So I had to get a little creative!

While brainstorming, I noticed other fun events like SneakerCon and Comic-Con that use “con” (short for convention). It instantly clicked: CAKECON!

Because at the end of the day, that’s exactly what this is: a big, joyful gathering of people who all share one delicious common interest… CAKE.
